Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he is confident that Portugal will advance to the final of the Confederation Cup after their win over New Zealand, which booked their place in the semi-final.
Cristiano scored the first goal of the game from the penalty spot before Andre Silva, Bernando Silva and Nani added three more games to give Portugal a 4-0 win over New Zealand and earned them the top spot in Group A.
This was Ronaldo’s 75th goal for the Portuguese national team and the 56th goal that he has scored since the beginning of last season and the Real Madrid star believes Portugal can go all the way and win the trophy in Russia.
“I have contributed to my team’s success and it feels good to score the first goal. I also had more chance to score even more. Ronaldo said after the game. “We played a very good game and showed that we wanted to win.”
“It was hard to play better than we played because the grass was not very good. We know that in the semi-finals both Chile and Germany are great teams, but we are confident.”
The Portuguese coach Santos revealed that he was not worried about the team that they will be facing in the Semi final stage of the competition.
“Now, I will analyse the opponents and prepare the game regardless of the opponent.
“It’s another phase, totally different, but the aim is to win. We have to be better and more consistent, stronger in both ways. You have to try to reach the goal and prevent them from scoring.
“I warned my players to not let them win balls in the air, and the team reacted well. I think the New Zealand team deserved to score a goal. They’re a team with great spirit and capacity.”
Portugal could face either Chile and Germany in the Semi Final.
