Cristiano Ronaldo slammed the five game ban that was awarded as punishment for shoving the referee calling it ridiculous and exaggerated.
Ronaldo’s suspension is as a result of his sending off in Real Madrid’s game against Barcelona in the Spanish Super cup.
The football federation in Spain rejected the appeal that was made by Real Madrid in order to upturn his five games ban which means that he won’t take part in the games against Valencia, Levante, and Deportivo La Coruna.
The Portuguese star took to his Instagram page to express his disapproval stating that it was difficult for him to act like he wasn’t affected by the situation.
An Exaggerated Situation
“It is exaggerated and full on persecution.” He wrote.
Ronaldo’s in the Super Cup clash only lasted a few minutes as he came off the bench to give Real Madrid the lead and got a booking for taking off his shirt while celebrating the goal.
He was issued a second yellow card minutes later for a dive in the box and shoved the referee as his anger boiled over.
There are reports that he could have been handed a 12 game ban but he was handed five game ban instead.
The one game ban is as a result of the red card that he received and the other four was shoving the referee. He also received a fine of 3,850.
